Multi Purpose composts are the jack of all trades but the master of none . They generally contain an average level of nutrients and have a standard medium texture. While multi purpose composts can be used for everything from growing seeds to hanging baskets they will only give average results.
Much better results are achieved if task specific compost is used. The most common use for multi purpose compost is for general planting and soil improvement in flowerbeds and borders.
